Shala Flow is our “House” vinyasa. This class is designed to improve strength and flexibility as you move through a slower paced vinyasa sequence. Shala Flow is suitable for those comfortable with Sun Salutation A, standing poses, basic backbends and building strength for more advanced poses.

Hatha Basics is an introduction to the physical practice of yoga (asana) and breathing (pranayama). Barbershop Talks

Barbershop Talks provides fathers of all ages, but especially teen fathers, a chance to meet other fathers from the community and gain support and encouragement. This is a free activity and food, haircuts, and raffles are always provided. Transportation is provided for those that are receiving Parenthood Case Management Services. This group is called Barbershop Talks because it has the feel of being in a Barbershop-men, young and old, fathers and their children receiving haircuts, while discussing topics that are essential for all men. Be A Voice in Our Political Process

Bringing Your Best Game

DSKO Fitness

DSKO Fitness is a new and exciting group workout that incorporates cardio exercise and strength training infused with hip-hop dance moves. The moves are challenging though easy to learn, but before one gets too comfortable, the routine and music playlist changes and the learning process begins again. These variances provide a challenging full body workout to help each participant reach his or her fitness goals.

Evaluation Results from the Implementation of Trauma Smart

In 2016 Starfish introduced Trauma Smart training to support staff in understanding what trauma is and how to support individuals who have experienced trauma. Evaluation results from year one of Trauma Smart will be reviewed. Lessons learned and successes will be highlighted.

Smart Connections Caregiver Workshop

Caregivers will learn the importance of taking care of themselves in order to better care for their children. Caregivers will increase their knowledge about how toxic stress/chronic adversity affect their child’s emotional, physical, and behavioral responses. Caregivers will learn how to support their children at home with the same strategies we are using at school and will expand their support networks through relationships with other parents. Staying in the Front Seat: Tools for Self-Care

Tales From The Table: How Storytelling Benefits Children

Participants will learn that storytelling is essential in helping children of all ages to become good readers. This is an interactive workshop where participants will engage in telling stories themselves as well as hearing great storytelling. Every participant will choose a story box with some props already in it and be able to choose from an assortment of items to add to their box.

The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope: A Viewing of the Documentary Resilience

The LGBTQ+ Alphabet: Creating an Informed and Supportive Environment for LGBTQ+ Youth

This is a workshop for caregivers, family members, and supporters of youth and teenagers who identify as LGBTQ+, or who may be questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. This session will focus on education surrounding terms used to identify orientation or gender identity, as well as education regarding the LGBTQ+ experience, resources, and knowing how to stay informed. This workshop will also teach you how to empathize, relate to, and create a supportive environment for your LGBTQ+ loved ones, as well as learn about protective factors that can be implemented at home, at school and in your community.

Trauma Informed Yoga: Healing the Body From Symptoms of Trauma

This class will provide information on trauma and how trauma can change a person’s brain and body. We will give you tools from yoga and mindfulness to help you feel safe in your own body. Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences: Building Self-Healing Communities

One of the most serious public health threats facing the nation is childhood trauma. In the early 1990s the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study showed exposure to experiences such as abuse, neglect and household challenges during childhood can have lasting effects on physical health. The good news is the body wants to heal! This class will explain the ACE study, the impact of ACEs, and how to learn to cope and get through hard times.

Managing your brand requires you to be a great role model, mentor or voice that others can depend upon.
