Barbershop Talks

Barbershop Talks provides fathers of all ages, but especially teen fathers, a chance to meet other fathers from the community and gain support and encouragement. This is a free activity and food, haircuts, and raffles are always provided. Transportation is provided for those that are receiving Parenthood Case Management Services. This group is called Barbershop Talks because it has the feel of being in a Barbershop-men young and old, fathers and their children receiving haircuts, while discussing topics that are essential for all men.

Creative Writing Workshop-Poetry Exploration

Do you like to write poetry-or want to give it a try? Join us for a workshop that offers you starting points and work to spark your imagination. We’ll write for 2-3 weeks and then have a “poetry slam” and everyone who wants to read their work can share! Fraternity of Fathers

Parents! Bring your young children, ages 18 months - 5 years to the Early Learning Resource Center to meet other families and engage in developmentally appropriate activities. Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences: Building Self-Healing Communities

One of the most serious public health threats facing the nation is childhood trauma. In the early 1990s the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study showed exposure to experiences such as abuse, neglect and household challenges during childhood can have lasting effects on physical health. The good news is the body wants to heal! This class will explain the ACE study, the impact of ACEs, and how to learn to cope and get through hard times.
