Starfish Early Learning Communities: Provides training, networking and resources to those caring for young children (ages 0-8 years) in western Wayne County. Programs include professional development, play and learn groups, networking opportunities and access to a full early childhood resource library. Home-based Literacy Program (32P): A home-based literacy program bringing language and reading to the home, encouraging children under five-years old to learn and parents to become their child’s most effective teacher. Great Start Readiness Program: Offers free preschool for four-year-old children residing in the Westwood Community School District to ready them for kindergarten. For more information call, 313-292-1691.
Partnering with Parents: Home and community based services for families with children 0 – 5 or pregnant women. Provides support to families struggling with developmental, emotional, or behavioral problems. Call 1-888-355-5433.
Baby Power Program: A free group parenting program to assist moms in meeting their child’s needs while decreasing the risks of maternal depression and anxiety . Free transportation and childcare provided. Call 888-355-5433.

Community Finance Center: Client-centered financial education and coaching, as well as connecting families to available support during financial transition. Call 734-727-3141 .
Behavioral Health Services
Helps children, families, and adults improve their relationships and overall well-being through counseling treatment. Starfish offers prevention, outpatient, and in-home therapy with specialty programs designed to meet your needs. Teen and Adolescent Programs
Starfish Shelter & Crisis Center: Provides safe, short-term shelter for young people ages 12-17 , along with counseling and support services to help families work through their problems with family reunification being the ultimate goal. Please call 313-563- 5005 or toll-free 866-672-HELP (4357).
Inkster Youth Assistance Program: Helps at-risk youth (up to 17 years old) avoid the juvenile justice system through activities and group support with help from a case manager. Call 313-563-5005 or toll-free 866-672-HELP (4357).
Transitional Living Program: Offers youth and young adults safe, stable, long-term living accommodations and an array of support services geared toward independent living. Call 313-563-5005 or toll-free 866-672- HELP (4357).
Parenthood Program: Provides support for pregnant and parenting teens (up to 21 years old) through home visits, case management, psycho-educational groups and referrals to external and internal programs. Call 313-563-5005.
Planned Respite: Short-term residential shelter for Medicaid eligible youth between 10-17 years old receiving mental health services throughout Wayne County. The program consists of life skills and educational support as well as case management and the coordination of services. Call 313-563-5005.
